Hi, all

I have just fully installed RH9. When trying to install some other software, it informs me that I need gtk. So the best way to solve this problem is? Download a rpm packet?

I met this problem once before. I have download many tar.gz packets, and unziped, configured, built and installed. But still failed.

So anyone got an idea?

You may ask me why use such an old version. Because I need a linux of 2.4 version.

That is the problem with trying to run a version that support was dropped six years ago. While the 2.4 kernel is still being supported (not by RH) you are (most probably) still running the version from six years ago. gtk probably relies on features which have been added after support for RH9 was dropped. By the way you do not need a Linux of 2.4. You THINK you need a Linux with a kernel version of 2.4, in reality there are very few things that can be done on a 2.4 kernel that cannot be done on a 2.6 kernel and most things can be done better/easier on a 2.4 kernel. If you really need a 2.4 kernel, I THINK slack still has a version in which 2.4 kernels are still maintained.

So your suggestion is to change the OS version?

Running a non supported version of any OS (windows/mac/Linux) can be quite a challenge. So yes, my best advice would be switch to a supported version.
