host file weirdness

I have noticed that if I make changes to my Ethernet settings and have to restart the network services, most of my /etc/hosts file disappears. Has anyone else had this issue and what did you do to solve it? chmod -w on the hosts file????

Its cuz RH did some stuff to make network profiles work. If you got hostfiles in /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/${PROFILENAME} make changes there. If OTOH you don't care for RH's way of configuring stuff, uninstall them tools and fixate your confs with 'chattr =iu'. Mind you this prolly will give errors during a network restart.
