Help with installing HP Laserjet 1000

I downloaded the new drivers from what was described from, but I am not sure how to configure it. Can anyone help me in setting it up within the printer console? I had also tried CUPS, but received an error stating I did not have authorization to do so. In a seperate terminal window, I logged in via SU, so don't know why that happened.

Any ideas/suggestions?

You don't have authorization because you were not user 'root' but you were user root in a different terminal window which you didn't use to configure the printer. So, to make it short:

1. su - in a terminal window
2. Then run 'printtool' and setup your printer that way.

Depending on the version of redhat you have, you might already have a driver for that LaserJet.
