hello buddies..how to troubleshooting postfix


hye guys...
i have installed postfix on my red hat 9
when i started , it failed....

now how to start the troublshooting.....

where and how should i start the debugging..can anyone help??

postfix tends to log to /var/log/maillog

anything there?

i have just check the maillog

have checked the var/log/maillog....
and the fisrt error is warning ; My hostname mailserver is not a fully qualified
name-set my hostname in main.cf

but this i have already done!!

the name of my host is "mailserver" only..is that causing the problem??

very likely it is. Postfix really wants to know what the FQDN is of the mailserver.

like:
mail.mymailbox.com. as the name of the mail server
