Hard drive not recognized in RHEL 4

I was trying to instal Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. My configuration is :

Intel D945GTP Motherboard and chipset
Pentium IV CPU
512 MB RAM
80 GB Samsung SATA drive HD080HJ

But the installation says no Hard Disk Found!!

Please advise.

Unfortunately, Intel doesn't offer much in the way of support for that particular board on that release of Redhat ES. They do, however, support RedHat 4 Update 1 and newer. The reason for this is largely the sata driver support from the kernel. The way the kernel IDE support was designed made it very difficult to support new IDE chipsets, and near impossible for SATA controllers. Newer kernels have started migrating all IDE support to the new LibATA driver library, which makes adding new controller support much better.

If you can install from RH 4 Update 1 or newer, Intel does provide an additional set of newer drivers for the graphics, audio, and lan. Try http://www.intel.com/go/linux for more information. They have a motherboard support matrix there as well.

Is there a version of CentOS that is compatible with the above specifications?

From what I can tell, SATA support started with 4.1. 4.2 is also up there, so I guess I'd start there. CentOS is not one that I regularly test, but since they are based of RHES, it should be a safe bet.
