Graphics adapter

Hi,

I've just installed Red Hat for the 1st time ever, it's all gone very well the graphics adapter was seen as an S3 virge (generic) I've logged on & run the update program, now when I reboot into the new version (2.4.20-31.9) or the original (2.3.20-8) the log-on screen is shown in only a few color's & though i can log-on I cannot see well enough to find the video adapters settings menu to change it.

Is there anyway i can fix this or do I need to reinstall Red Hat again?

Kind Regards

Steve

Do you have a "rescue" disk? Try booting up with that - it should drop you into a text terminal. Now go an edit /etc/inittab and change the line

id:5:initdefault:

to

id:3:inittdefault

and save.

Reboot your machine after removing the rescue disk. You will now at least have textmode access to go and edit your XF86config to try and solve the problem.
