Gnome Bluetooth Manager in CentOS 5.2
Hello everyone,
I have installed CentOS 5.2 on my Dell XPS M1330 computer and noticed that when I double-click on the Bluetooth Manager icon in Gnome it does nothing. If I right-click on it I see that the "Discoverable" check-box is checked. If I try to uncheck it nothing seems to happen. It does not become unchecked. I have noticed, however, that following message appear on the dmesg when I try to uncheck the "Discoverable" checkbox: "xxxxx hcid[xxx]: Setting scan enable failed with status 0x0c" "xxxxx hcid[xxx]: Getting scan enable failed with status 0x0c" When I had Fedora 9 installed on the same computer, double-clicking on the bluetooth manager icon did do stuff and I was able to connect to devices, which was encouraging, therefore, I don't suspect hardware problems. I suspect that there's a configuration I might have to do that is specific to CentOS. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Thanks, moniker117 |
Two things I can think of: kernel and userland. Stock CentOS kernels follow the RHEL rules for support and stability while Fedora uses bleeding edge. You could try compiling a recent stable kernel and see if the kernel Bluetooth part works better detecting devices. Same could go for application and library versions: you could try more recent versions if available. Also note CentOS 5.3 has been out for a while now. Spose that means newer app versions as well.
