First Ill say I like this forum and have learned quite a bit from it so far.
but I have a question now, I spent most of today searching for something like this here but havent found it. Im running RedHat 9.0 with kernel 2.4.25 and installed so that I can choose between GNOME and KDE. While Im running either the system will randomly log me out, back to the log in screen. It doesnt matter what Im running, or even if im not running programs at all. And it doesnt log out at a fixed amount of time, just at random it seems. This has happened ever since I freshly installed it.
It is NOT restarting the computer, just logging me out to the login screen. Also I cannot log in as root. Ill put in root for username, and my pass for pswd. And it will begin loging me in, but only go thro about half of the loging procedures and kick me back out to the login screen.
I have tried installing the 2.6.3 kernel, but havent been able to do it succesfully yet.
Figured it out, for some reason it is just quirky with onboard video, put a old geforce2 i had laying around in it and havent had any more problems. been running for a couple days straight without logging out like it used to.
