GCC installation error


Hello

I was installing GCC and i followed the steps below and got the error, can anyone tell me on whats the error!.

I downloaded gcc-4.3.0

ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gcc/gcc-4.3.0/gcc-4.3.0.tar.bz2

from http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownl...nload-641.html

You are trying to compile gcc with gcc. You do not have gcc installed so ./configure cannot find the gcc compiler under any of its several aliases.

How do you expect to compile something without an existing compiler?

Download a binary (how depends on your distro).

Why not just "yum install gcc"?
