Export DISPLAY works from linux boxes but not from unix
I have just installed Redhat WS on my laptop that was previously Mandrake 10.1. What I have found is that I can still export a display from other linux machines (Redhat, Fedora, Suse), but cannot any longer from Solaris 8, 9 or HP-UX. I have X11 forwarding set to yes, connectivity is there. On the Solaris 9 machines I tried via telnet as well as ssh. I've used ssh -X and -Y. My /etc/hosts contains entries for all the machines I work with. I have set xhost + just to make sure I'm not blocking. I have tried :10.0 and :10.1 as well as :0.0 I have turned off firewall and disabled selinux.
I've googled this thing to death and have not come up with an answer, although I know that it will be something exceedingly simple. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |
I'm not a moderator but ask for one to move this thread to the Solaris Forum. You have a much higher chance in getting a response back.

You could very well be correct. I will post there as well, but I do believe this is on the Redhat side. Nothing has changed on the Solaris machines and when I had Mandrake on the laptop it worked. This alone leads me to believe it is something on the Redhat side.

Here is the fix for anyone who works with Unix boxes from their Redhat v.4.
as root cd /etc/X11/gdm/ vi gdm.conf uncomment the line that has DisallowTCP=true and change to =false save and exit restart X |
