Error starting Squid

Dear experts,

After i have redhat linux 9.0 installed i use the below command to start squid:

#service squid start

and it shows this error message:

/etc/init.d/squid: line 162: 2426 Aborted $SQUID -z -F -D 2>/dev/null
/etc/init.d/squid: line 162: 2427 Aborted $SQUID $SQUID_OPTS 2>/dev/null

So what is the problem ?

I have read some manuals and it says the default configuration will work.
But for me no luck at all.

Thanks,
