Dual Boot Red Hat 9: 2 images installed - Why???

hello,
I have had some minor red hat training over 2 years ago, but have found myself out of the loop for sometime now. I recently installed Red Hat 9.0 over the weekend.

I installed RH9 on a secondary drive with XP being my primary OS. Motherboards is an Asus A7N8X - Deluxe with a Athlon XP 2000

When grub loads. I see my Dos (XP - ha ha) image, but I also see 2 Red hat images:
Red Hat Linux 2.4.20-8smp
Red Hat Linux-up 2.4.20-8

Can anyone tell my why i am seeing two images, should i be seeing 2 images. Is this part of a package I selected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!!

Ok, I was able to figure out that the image ending in SMP is for a system with multiple cpu's now my next question is why did that image install with the other image. was this due to a package selection or this the default. I know I can remove it from grub.conf however, i am curious as to why it was installed.
