does network drivers need certification for Red Hat

Hi all,

I'm new to Red hat
I'm developing a network driver in Red Hat5. I need to know whether we have to do any certifications and testing to make the driver certified before releasing to the real world.

If we developing any network driver for windows, we have to get our driver certified with all the test cases tested provided by the document given by them.
Is like that in Red hat too?
Please help me out

Thanks
Vinoth

Technially? Absolutely not, there's no validation mechanism for anything like that. You'd never usually write a driver for "Red Hat" though, you'd look to have it integrated into the Kernel, and Red Hat and all other distributions would acquire it as part of the kernel. You can certainl build back ported kmod packages for any compatible kernel though outside of that.
