Disabling animations in GNOME 2.0

Can anyone tell me how to disable maximize, minimize and other animations in GNOME 2.0

I know I am using the oldest of all GNOME, but please tell me. My distro is RH9.

secondly, I searched the LQ for this, but found one thread and a solution was provided. However, it does not seem to work.

Are there any experienced Redhat 9 users who can tell this?
