Cups disables printers!
We are using RedHat Enterprise 4. Has anyone had issues using remote LPD printers where cups will disable the printer? I don't see anything in log where cups actually disabled the printer, however the printer stops printing. You then have to use /usr/bin/enable to re-enable the printer. Once you do that, it starts working again.
Any suggestions. we are printing to terminal servers that run LPD. Thanks, |
OK, so cups prior to version 1.2 disables the print queue if it receives any kind of error. Anything, like paper out, offline can cause cups to disable the print queue. For cups < 1.2 there is a backend that allows you customize this behavior. The backend (beh) can be found here:
