CPU freq. control in RHEL5

I have RHEL5 installed on my Laptop (with Interl Core2 duo processor)

When I use the CPU frequency Monitor application to change the CPU frequency, it doesn't respond to my selection (e.g. I choose 2.2GHz frequency but it switches to 1.2GHz instead)

Is this some bug or am I missing something?

Is there a work-around to fix the CPU frequency at the max.?

Thanks

Hi,

i'm not sure what CPU frequency Monitor you are running. But take a look at cpuspeed command.

You can use to tune the scaling governer, for example 'cpuspeed -m 1690000' will setup the cpu to provide min. 1700MHz rate.

'man cpuspeed' is your friend.

I am using the graphical monitor (the one you add to the panel)

I'll try the cpuspeed command
