Changing IP address - just a vent
OK, when I change IP address in the CentOS, network properties. After th change, why in hell does it NOT just automatically reset "network and network service" so that the new setting will take effect?
Instead of doing that, it asks me to do it. Well, how the hell do I know which network and network service I need to restart? Why don't I have to deal with this in Windows? |
Something like:
Code:
/etc/inid.d/network restart |
Could that directory be called "/etc/init.d"?
|
yeah, sorry about the typo -
Code:
/etc/init.d/network restart |

In some of your other posts, you have been on a bit of a warpath about the shortcomings of Linux. Some of this might motivate people to suggest that you might be happier staying with Windows. If you sincerely want to learn Linux, then may I suggest changing your tone? Returning to your question, one of the big discriminators among distros is the level of user-friendly GUI configuration tools. Given that CentOS is a clone of RHEL, which in turn is targetted at institutions, I would not expect them to be leading the pack in the user-friendly wars. |
