Changes to RHEL4 (AS Specifically)

Hi everyone,

I called RedHat and was told there is no document about what's new in version 4.0. Does anyone know of such a thing, or a place to start looking? I assume since the major version is incrimented (v3 to v4) there must be some significant changes?

Thanks in advanced

The biggest change is, of course, the kernel:

RHEL 3 uses 2.4.21 based kernels with some 2.6 features backported to it.
RHEL 4 is (so far) using 2.6.9-based kernel.

RHEL 4 is currently using the GNOME 2.8 desktop

...and yes, there are quite a few other changes (expanded hardware support thankfully), but I don't know off the top of my head what else. You probably aren't going to hear much out of Red Hat on the v4 release until the time gets closer for the GA release....which I think is sometime around March 05.
