CentOS: trying to compile cisco wccp module but getting kernel source errors

Makefile:25: *** Linux kernel source not configured - config.h not found. Stop.

ive been at this for 2 days, ive installed new kernels and recompiled and im still getting this same issue, theres very little documentation on this. i got a step further when i did a ln -s autoconf.h config.h but the make still failed
has anyone successfully compiled the wccp module on centos to get a transparent squid proxy server working w/ IOS?

Actually there is documentation on it but your account of steps taken is too terse to comment on what's gone wrong. Could you run us through your steps from getting the kernel and Squid source, and what you enabled that allow both to recognise it?
