I just did a dual boot install of redhat9/win98 on my old toughbook,pentium2,266mgz,64
megs of ram. It is very slow of course and I intend to put a lighter window manager on
it in the future. Otherwise it is working pretty well. I have sound, usb, and I am using a
pcmcia modem to get online. The one gotcha so far is that the cdrom light flashes
about twice a second and I assume this will be harmful to the drive. This only
happens if I startx. If I boot into init 3 the drive light does not flash. Any ideas on how
to fix it would be appreciated.

I found a temporary fix by opening a terminal and running top.
I then found the pid of autorun and killed it. This stops the light
from flashing. As I said in a previous post I don't know if it was
harmful or not but it was annoying. Now to find a permanent
solution.
