Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration.
Dear Friends,
I installed the phpmyadmin and that is the error message in the browswer. What am I going to do? Here's my Problem. 1. Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration. 2. The mbstring PHP extension was not found and you seem to be using a multibyte charset. Without the mbstring extension phpMyAdmin is unable to split strings correctly and it may result in unexpected results. thanks. |
Can you try the following as root:
# yum install php-mcrypt |

I am using RHEL4 sorry I don't have yum. any command for rpm? |
Can't you get updates from the RedHatNetwork for subscribers?
Yes download the php-mcrypt RPM from however you download RHEL packages and run # rpm -ivh php-mcrypt-VERSION.rpm (whatever the proper filename is) It may have some dependancies, I am not sure. |

well, the earlier suggestions didn't work...
OK... using some version of Red Hat and this is my very first time getting to actually do work in Linux. Received two error (warning) messages from phpMyAdmin upon entering login screen. Yum solved the other one, but Yum replied:
yum install php-mcrypt Loaded plugins: rhnplugin, security Setting up Install Process No package php-mcrypt available. Nothing to do So, under the circumstances, since I can't have access to the person who installed Linux (2 days ago) and don't know how the Red Hat version was acquired, what can I do now? Preferably, answers addressing what I should do would be appreciated! TIA (p.s., first post on this forum) |
