cannot find named.conf and /var/named

I am using RedHat 9.0. I downloaded bind-9.2.3.tar.gz and placed it in /tmp. After unzipping I installed it using following commands.

./configure --prefix=/usr/local --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var

make

make check

make install

After that I went to /etc. But there is no named.conf file and also under /var there is no named directory. Then I installed bind which is shipped with RedHat (RPM package) with --allfiles option. But that also didn't work. What will I do ?

Kaushik.M

Thank you in advance

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
