Cannot find a file : fcntl.c

Hi,

I have RHEL 5 server edition ! In the kernel source : /usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-8.el5.i686/, I cannot find a file called fcntl.c , which I think should be there in the kernel source.

Is there any package needed for that purpose? Pls help... Thanks

As root,
Code:
find /usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-8.el5.i686/ -name "fcntl.c"
if that doesn't produce results, then it is not there. In that case you'll have to (re?)install the whole kernel source (remember headers too). It's not necessarily there straight out of the box, usually only the explicitly needed files are there. So, find and install the kernel source package for that exact kernel version you're running, preferably by using your package manager, or if it's not possible, then manually. First you could of course just check if a kernel source package is installed or not.

Actually, the file was not there !! I am using RED HAT and RED HAT does not come up with full kernel source..so, this file was not actually present !!

Solution: recompile/build the kernel !! now all set !! thanks every1

There seems to be a mini-fad for compiling RHEL kernels just lately.
