Cannot access Windows XP pro Machine

I have a strange situation in file sharing with XP pro. I CAN see and share all shared files and folders on my windows 2000 Pro, windows XP home, and windows ME computers from my Redhat 9.0 machine. I CAN access the internet through my XP Pro Machine using Winproxy 5.1rd software.
BUT, I CANNOT access my new windows XP Pro machine's shared files and folders and of course all the printers are on the XP Pro Machine.

If I do a smbclient -L //XPpromachine
I can see all the shared items.
If I try doing a smbclient //XPpromachine/shared files, or any shared file or folder
I get the password:
then I get, nt_Status_logon_failure.

What am I missing? Never had a problem before connecting to other windows machines, it has always been easy.

Is there something in the XP pro machine I need to change?

In GUI, I can use "networkservers"
it shows my workgroup name
d-click on it, and it shows all windows PC's
Can access w2k Pro,XP home, winME machines by putting in username and password, when the authentication window pops up.
try to access the XP Pro machine, and put in username and password and it just does nothing. Nothing is showing.

One of you more experienced Red Hat users probably knows the answer to this, but I am stumped?

yes, I have accounts set up on the XP Pro machine for access, and I can acccess it from all other windows machines.

ready to go fishing, after fighting this!

No, any kind of mount command, or any type of communication with the XP machine other than stated above gets me a NT_login error. I just replaced an old winproxy server with this new machine and the only thing different is that I went from XP home to XP pro. I could access everything on the old winproxy server using XP home. I have a multiboot Linux PC , and Mandrake is doing the same thing. I have tried all kinds of combinations of setting up user names and such.

I have smbpasswd encrypted per "samba's website", and have it set up for the main user and root. still no talky to the XP Pro. I do a lot of stuff on the Linux box and this is wierd!
