root password forget.

root password forget. so, home account do login.
can't login into root account.
how to change root password?

I do not think there is any way to possibly change your root password without actually being logged in as root. I may be incorrect though.

Boot in single user mode.
You will then be able to change root password using command

I have the same problem on a new reinstall of rh8. The login is graphical.
I need to access the root password so as to configure the mouse and bootup.
"initlevel x" is in which file? (rh)
What initlevel for single user boot, for passwd command?

In order to reset your root password, you will need to boot Linux in runlevel 1.

To do this, read the following document.

Once the system is booted, change your root password using the passwd command.
