Can't find /etc/init.d/smb or /etc/rc.d/init.d/smb on RHEL 5.3

I've installed RHEL 5.3 under VM.
After configure /etc/samba/smb.conf then i can't run this command :
#service smb restart
or
/etc/init.d/smb restart
got this error
smb: unrecognized service

Is this because I run RHEL under VM ?
Any idea about this ?
Thanks

Did you install samba from source or did you install using an RPM?

Actually i just install RHEL and choose install everything.
When i try yum install samba, seems no package for samba.
But i can found /etc/samba/smb.conf and configure it.

Can you run "rpm -qi samba" to make sure it is installed?

If you have a RHEL 5.3 subscription and are using RHN for your updates then yum install samba will work - as its part of the official RHEL repositories. It should also be on your install DVD and you could use that as your repository.

Can you update at all? Update should push you up to version 5.5. If you can not update then you have not set Red Hat subscription on your system. If you do not want to pay for support, install CentOS.
