I'm trying to install the broadcom driver for my centos 4.7 box
and get message below when I try to compile it.

make: *** SUBDIRS=/root/bnx2/src: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [default] Error 2

I have full configured and compiled linux sources under /usr/src/linux
and I'm not sure what the command is complaining about.

When I try doing the same on my gentoo box it works and gives me following output

make -C /lib/modules/2.6.27-gentoo-r8/build SUBDIRS=/home/user/Server/Linux/Driver/netxtreme2-4.8.10/bnx2-1.8.5b/src modules

what am I missing here

Into what directory did you untar the broadcom driver?
Are you running configure from that same directory?
Did you use any additional parameters with "./configure"?

I am running configure from the same directory to which i've unbzipped the driver. Should i try it from different directory such as /root/driver/.configure instead of just ./.configure?

I'm not using any options.

This still leaves the question of why it would work on my gentoo box but not on the centos box.

EDIT: Actually there is no .configure file just the Make file.
