Hi, 3 questions about Red Hat diskless clients:
Question 1:
The following link describes setting some configuration for diskless clients. But for a client without a disk, what's the point of setting settings that it can't see before bootup?
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/e...s-netboot.html
Are those settings being set on the client, DHCP server, TFTP server, or NFS server?
What about the /diskless and /tftpboot folders - what server are they on?
So confusing!
Question 2:
Also, can you boot multiple physical machines from one copy of the OS on the NFS server? Or if you have 5 machines booting from NFS, would you have to have 5 copies on the NFS server? (i.e. Does booting diskless *save TOTAL disk usage* in addition to making server configuration centralized.)
Question 3:
What about environment variables...how would you deal with multiple machines booted from the same installation but that need to have different environment variables (and other different things, like location of temp files)?
