bluecurve problem
The girlfriend's laptop is having problems so I thought I'd drop a note here. She's been using the default 9.0 desktop for some time now with no problems. However, a few things have suddenly stopped working (today).
1. nautilus does not run anymore. (To her, this just means that nothing happens when she clicks on "the little house icon"). I tried running nautilus from a shell and nothing happens. Also, I tried it with the -c option to run some kind of check but that just hangs. 2. For whatever reason, I am unable to right click on the desktop. Nothing happens. No menu appears, nothing. 3. Her desktop icons have all dissapeared. After trying a few silly things like rm -fr .nautilus and such, I finally just said "ah to hell with it" and created a new user account. I was shocked when I logged in (under init 5) as the new user and saw that every problem/error could be reproduced under the new account's environment. This tells me that the source of the problem is system-wide. And now for a quick coffee run before I check for replies.... Thanks :) Adam |
Consider running something similar to or better than rpm -Va to verify all your installed packages.
