bash ls not coloring files, directories etc

Rather than requesting removal you should put your original question AND the solution. If you ran into the problem someone else will in the future. One of the benefits of forums like this is the ability to search for the problem without having to ask.
I'm assuming you figured out that you didn't have "ls" aliased to ls --color
Why? Well, as I was moving something arround, I accidentally pressed chmod 755 /* instead ./* and in between I also used -R and some ohter permissions.
When I realized that changes were not being made because of my typo I couldn't do anything with the rhl9.
So first I managed to set permissions on /etc/pam.d to and /etc/securrety , hence I could login back (fail safe).
Then I changed files for ssh and ftp since these errors were shown in my logs.
And then the first annoying problem was no colors - besides the email was not working :)
Then I installed new rhl9 on another system, exported permissions and ownerships with:
