First, what's the problem? RAID5 has worked the way it should, so right now, you GO REPLACE THE FAILED DRIVE
. The array will rebuild itself, and life goes on.
There are MANY backup options, did you try to look for any of them? You can use tar, cpio, Amanda, mondoarchive, mkcdrec, or systeimager. You can even just use the "cp" command. What are you going to back up TO?????
