backing up 50 GB data on 40GB tape ?

I have two servers each occupying around 25GB of space and only one DAT 40GB tape device.
Until I receive bigger tape device what would be best way to backup both servers?

I was thinking:

Day one: Server1 full + Server2 incremental.
Day two: Server2 full + Server1 incremental.
....
and so on.

Does this looks ok to you?

Why not just back up one drive each day. Or use 2 tapes?

I usually end up putting 90gb+ of art files on 2-3 DLT 35/70 tapes. I do full weekly backups. The daily backup goes to a backup server. Hard drive space is cheap and IDE's work just fine for backups of backups of backups waiting to goto DLT tape.

[root@backup /backup]# tar -cMf /dev/st0 art

Then away it goes for a couple hours.. then I get something like "please insert the next volume and press enter..." So I hit eject, switch tapes, WAIT for it to load, Then press ENTER and away it goes.

Backup is going on over night. It has to be one tape only.
