Audit for Red Hat 5.2 enterprise server

I am trying to initilaize auditing on a Red Hat 5.2 enterprise server.

Things like:
/sbin/chkconfig audit on

are what I am looking at, but I need to know where things go to start the audit service.

A simple example with all of the pieces set to audit, then I can add rules to match requirements.

There must be beginners audit white papers.

Just point me in the direction.

one of the first things i would do is call RED HAT
and use your paid for support .

but seeing as this is 5.2 ( the current is 5.4 ) you did not pay$$ red hat for the security updates ( big no-no)
pay Red Hat for the updates then
update to 5.4
yum update

You use chkconfig to tell the system what init levels audit should be started on at reboot.
to start it manually ie sans reboot try one of

root> service audit start

not sure if it's audit or auditd there.
