Apache Tomcat 5.5 install issues.

In the process of installing Apache Tomcat 5.5, pop following error:
Code:
root@localhost bin> cd jsvc-src/
root@localhost jsvc-src> autoconf
root@localhost jsvc-src> ./configure
-bash: ./configure: Permission denied
it should be following as the instruction(http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.5-doc/setup.html):
cd $CATALINA_HOME/bin
tar xvfz jsvc.tar.gz
cd jsvc-src
autoconf
./configure
make
cp jsvc ..
cd ..

Perhaps your ./confiure file does not have executable permission.

Try
chmod +x ./configure

Did you run the configure script after you made it executable?

You need to run configure before make (...all the steps are specified in the INSTALL file)

1)chmod +x ./configure
2)./configure
3)make
