I was amazed at how simple the developers of PL 4.31 made it with respect to special characters introduction into a page: a combination of <Alt> key & the special character itself plus the regular character. The system took care of it automatically, with respect to interpretation.

Now, in PL 5.11 can't use any keyboard combination to obtain any. I would like to know/learn what has changed between those puppies.

Is it fixable by just copying a file/group of files from one os to the other? Do I've to d/l & install something?

I'm planning to use the approach of pupplvr to create a multiboot cd &, with the same step upgrade to PL 5.21; but I'm thinking of this special characters thing & stopped from continuing with it until I learn if there're ways of making any changes/additions/installations/configurations to the new puppy before including it within the cited cd. Why? Because I don't have a hdd in this laptop so I must run any os from another media & form.

Without knowledge about which keyboard layout and which characters you are talking about, all this is pretty cryptic to me.

I am writing from a de keyboard and all special characters like à, é, ô are obtained directly from their keys; the apostrophies are dead keys and become visible with the e, a or o typed afterwards.

Characters like {[]} require the Alt Gr key.

This is the same in Puppy 431, Lucid 525, Wary or Quirky.

So unless you define your problem more accurately, I am afraid that you will get very little help here.

Further: this "with the same step upgrade to PL 5.21" is also unclear. You create a multiboot CD from the ISO of the desired Puppy version. What does "upgrade" mean in this context?

My keyboard looks almost like this:

except that mine has on the top 12 other buttons for controlling multimedia (play, pause, stop, etc.), volume controls & navigation control buttons (menu, search, shop, etc.). Spent more than 35 mins. trying to find the exact model but to no avail. To be clearer, it has the number pad at the right hand side, right at left of it has the navigation buttons (left, right, up & down keys) & on top of those the usual Insert, Delete, Home, End, etc. keys. It shows it's a Model RT 3604.

An example of the characters I'm talking about follows:
---"This is only a test, memo-style, short writing for clarity.

Translation follows:

“Esto es sólo una prueba, estilo memorandum, corto escrito por razón de clarificación.“

Other characters of interest are: á, é, í, ñ, ú, ü, ¿ and ¡. Uppercase also apply..."

What I wanted to say was that I'm planning to create a multiboot cd soon, it should/will include the last stable version of Puppy, but I might have misspelled it & called it an Upgrade instead of an Update.

In relation to my last lines, I want to know if, in my no-hdd condition I might benefit somehow by performing some configurations in the proposed oss prior to burning/preparing to burn the cd? As an ex., choosing my preferred destop walpaper (discarding some that I won't never use), keyboard configuration, possibly deleting/substituting some applications included in the iso file, etc..

I googled for your Spanish keyboard and found it in principle very much like a German keyboard. Special characters are typed by using the shift key and/or the Alt Gr key.
In Puppy 525 you can choose the keyboard layout at first boot when the desktop appears. It opens a small window automatically and you choose your country localisation and keyboard - do not leave it at the default values, they are all en/us! Afterwards you should be able to use all keys on your keyboard as you are used to. If you missed it there, you can do it at Menu-Puppy Setup-Wizard Wizard. I would be very surprised if this does not get you the desired result!

I would suggest you follow these guidelines to setup your CD:

1. Burn the ISO to CD with Burniso2cd in Puppy.
2. Choose multisession in the process.
3. Start your PC from this newly burned CD and - upon appearance of the desktop - choose your location and keyboard.
4. Make all other changes, personalized settings, choosing of background, deleting what you don't need, etc etc.
5. If you want to delete applications go to Menu-Setup-Remove builtin packages (I recommend not to, due to dependencies you may not be aware of).
6. Add software from Quickpet and package manager. Especially a browser. Open the browser once to establish a profil folder.
7. When all this is done in the LiveCD environment, then restart the computer and SAVE TO THE CD! It will take quite a long time to do this save.
8. You now have a individualised CD you can use on your or any other PC with a CD drive. And you can continue to repeatedly save to it, until there is no more space.
9. In order to produce your many other CDs, start your new LiveCD and go to Menu-Setup-Remaster Puppy Live CD.
10. Follow the procedure there and make sure you create an ISO, not burn directly to another CD. For that you might need a USB Flash drive or an external Harddisk, since you mention that you don't have an internal HDD. Once you have the custom-ISO somewhere, you can burn as many CDs from it as you wish.
