WaryPuppy or Slacko/Lucy Puppy
 

I recently found an old P3 800mhz laptop with 128MB of ram and I am wondering is there is much of a difference between WaryPuppy (LTS distro designed for older PCs) and Slacko/Lucy puppy, the first being designed to be compatible with slackware packages and the second ubuntu packages. Being limited on RAM I was wondering which one those distros utilize the less amount of RAM?

If you are limited on RAM you wouldn't run any of those. It doesn't make much sense if you are low on RAM to waste RAM with loading the whole filesystem into it instead of giving it to your applications.

This is why I'll do a frugal/full install to prevent puppy from loading into RAM.

If you don't load Puppy into RAM then there is no point in using Puppy at all.

Which distro do you suggest then? I don't think many distros uses as little RAM as puppy do.

Puppy is not meant to use lesser RAM than other OSes, it is meant to be fast on older (old != low-RAM) machines. For low-RAM machines I personally would go for Slackware or Debian with a simple lightweight WM, like Openbox, Fluxbox or (in my case) i3. Well, actually I run Slackware with i3 on any machine (even my workstation with 6-core CPU and 16GB RAM), but I am biased.
If you don't want to configure much yourself I would go for antiX or Vector Light, the same I already recommended in your last thread.

The problem is, I tried AntiX and the display is just glitched I can see everything in double and for Vector Light, it always come up with an error message. Puppy boots fine though and installs just great.

Well, if it works for you then use it. But don't expect it to be more lightweight on RAM or faster than the other distros.

I will give a try to slackware.

Keep in mind that Slackware is not a "holds your hand" distribution, it doesn't come with many GUI tools for configuration.

Maybe I should just install windows ME or just throw this PC to the garbage...

You seem to be very fast with giving up if a problem occurs. I would recommend to just give it a try and if you have problems just ask here. You will not learn anything if you don't try.

I'm going to try out Puppy for now and Eventually I'll change to slackware. I don't plan on using this laptop much anyway.
