Transfer address book from puppy-4.3.1 to Lucid-510
I have been using puppy-4.3.1, and its internet mail program. I have upgraded to Lucid-510 that uses Sylpheed 2.7.1. Is there a way to get the address book that I was using in 4.3.1 so I can use to with Sylpheed? Thanks for any help.
Thank you for your response. I could not make Sylpheed work. It would not download my messages. I downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird, and it is working fine. I will try your suggestion, and see how it goes. I wonder where Thunderbird stores its address book, and in what file format.
About the slypheed won't work for recieving mail for future reference.
Sylpheed email. The first time you run Sylpheed, it creates a mailbox folder called Mail in /root and a hidden .sylpheed-2.0 configuration folder. However, Lupu already contains an old configuration folder. So when you run Sylpheed the first time, it thinks that it is set up correctly. Since its Mail folder does not exist yet, you can't send or receive messages. Deleting the configuration folder and running Sylpheed again solves the problem. (rcrsn51). This should be fixed in Instant Update 002.
Thank you again for your response. I am familiar with Thunderbird so I will stick with this program. The Thunderbird site was helpful. I found that Thunderbird and other email programs store its address book in a file called "abook.mab". This file is stored in ~/.thunderbird/h4x0xtyq.default for puppy linux. I inserted a copy of the file from the email program in puppy 4.3.1 into the directory in Lucid-510, and I had all my addresses. I did have to reboot the system for the addresses to appear.
Again, I appreciate your help.
