This browser does not support video playback.

When I go here and try to play the videos, I get "This browser does not support video playback'.

Anyone know why or if there is a fix ?

have you installed a video player ?
and the codec's ?
what browser are you using ?
firefox?
chrome ?
what ?

have you installed flash -- if needed ?

and so on with the 20 questions

Fixit7 10-19-2015 07:28 PM

vlc

seamonkey

I have flash.

How do I determine what codecs I have ?

frankbell 10-19-2015 09:30 PM

I was able to duplicate the problem in Seamonkey v. 2.38 on Slackware --Current. I have User Agent Switcher and changed the user agent to the default and to IE (it was set to Slackware), still with no luck.

I am normally able to play embedded videos on this combination. I also could not play the CNN videos on Firefox v. 41 on this same computer.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hi all,
I'm also having this problem on some sites. My browser is FF 41.02 running on Debian 8.2 with relevant extensions installed. The problem seems to be HTML 5 related. The latest version of Flash is also installed which I would have thought the browser would default to if HTML 5 doesn't work. When videos do play the actions of Play and Pause are reversed. All very strange behaviour.

I have searched extensively, without any luck, for a solution. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Kb.

If it is Html 5 related, then that would indicate an error in the code for the site.

It is very rare, so I think it will become even more rare in the future.

In my case, it was a Force Awakens video.

I was able to view it successfully on another site.

Yup, just tried on Debian Stretch, Chrome has no issues, Firefox gets a black screen and doesn't play. :(

As usual. Unistall through PPM if not successful.
CNN embedded twitter site video link is Linux 11.2 adobe flash player unfriendly. Friendly with pepperflash.
Up to you.
