Hello,
I have an old IBM Thinkpad A20m to load a simple light working OS on. Ram is 128.HD 6gb.
I used Gparted to partition HD into hda1 as ext3 with boot flag. Also made a hda2 as a swap space. Don't know why, just did.
Laptop has a working floppy drive and a USB. CD either dead or not recognized (is in Bios, but not working).
I made a PLOP manager floppy to work from USB stick loaded with Puppy lupu.520 on it. Made USB properly with Universal USB Installer.
Puppy loads great through Plop. Inside puppy I cannot see my internal HD. Not with Pmount, not anyhow!
So I moved down a version. Used retro Puppy. HD was recognized. With Universal Installer, I did a full install on hda1. Grub to MBR. Then reboot. Used same PLOP floppy to remove PLOP. Then reboot. And....Plop comes up again!
What am I doing wrong? I need Puppy to just load as OS when computer is on. Don't need Plop anymore!
I tried everything: Feather Linux, Lite Ubuntu, Quirky, 4.3.1 and Lighthouse Puppy, DSL, even Slax. Some of them do not see my internal HD, so I can't use them. Some do, but do not install good enough to boot from HD as single working OS.
Did you reboot with your floppy inside the drive?
When your BIOS is set to boot from floppy first you need to take it out in order to boot from the HDD.
Thanks for response. I took out the floppy.Right after Plop uninstall. Now, after multiple attempts I actually came to grub install screen. Gives me 2 options: to floppy and to HD. Chose to HD. It starts and then fails. Not fatal error.
