Mercurial (hg) pet file on lucid528

I installed Mercurial-1.7.5 pet but, it doesn't become active.
The hg command in terminal comes back with not known, etc. The files listed in the pet are present in /usr/lib/Python2.6 directory.

Anyone using Mercurial? If so, I need to know the error or errors I have made.

Perhaps post in that thread :
mercurial-1.7.5 .PET for Lucid-5.20 (and maybe others)

Python is tricky on Puppy .

I finally activated mercurial on puppy wary 511.

see page
http://tsrtesttest.appspot.com/wiki/...inux%20wary511

steps are

1. install python 2.6.pet
2. install mercurial 1.0.1 deb of debian lenny
3. download and extract .py files from .tgz, the debian web site
4. set PYTHON_PATH to extracted .py folder
5. copy .so files included in deb to extracted .py folder

done

but I'm not sure it works even when using push command. I just checked with "hg clone"
