lucid puppy frozen immediately on start up, have not been able to do anything since installation
 

I followed this tutorial because I was stuck in an automatic repair loop, and wanted to access my files. I went the USB route because my computer (Lenovo Y50-70) does not have a CD-ROM drive.

I eventually got it working, BUT when the startup is finished, the screen is frozen and looks like this. I am not able to move the cursor or make any type of impact with the keyboard. The only action I can take is to force the computer to shut off.

If I act very quickly on start up, I can move the cursor around for a second or so and the screen will look like this instead, and then freeze. Not sure what the warning message in the background says, since I can't move the "personalize settings" window. Another program named "gtkdialog-splash" has appeared at the bottom? No idea what that means.

I just want to access my files )^: What can I do to fix this and get it to unfreeze?
Could I have made an error at some point? I did have to mess around some in UEFI in order to get my computer to boot from the USB since it originally claimed "system doesn't have any usb boot option".

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum or if this has been answered somewhere already. I've been googling for an answer but no thread really seem to fit my situation. I have no experience with linux prior to this.

I would just try another puppy. Some have trouble relating to my hardware and some don't. If one don't work I just try another until one does work

Use the xvesa option on bootup instead of the xorg choice. Use puppy pfix=ram boot option in grub screen. Using vesa. Does it freeze then? If not. Make the save file while in the vesa option and delete you xorg .sfs save file.

@Gordie Thanks for the help!! I tried slacko puppy instead and managed to get it working. Have another issue now though, because of course lmao, but I'll deal with that later.

@rokytnji haha um that's probably really helpful for someone who knows more about puppy linux and life in general but I only understood like 50% of that :^) Thanks for replying though!
