USB Booting

An additional place to look for info - the main Puppy forum in the users forum. We have had a number of posts on that in the last six months or so. Admittedly our forum search is not the greatest but putting in the keywords boot and/or booting with USB devices should get you a starting place. Good luck.

very simply how to install puppy on usb device
1. Back up all data from the usb device onto hd or cd etc.
2. boot puppy live cd.
3. start>setup>install puppy on usb drive
4. then follow the wizard
5. I'm sure i don't need to say following points. In advanced bios change boot priority with usb device above hard drive (on mine it is 2cnd below cd)

Tracer009, we'll need more info to solve this one. Some BIOses won't boot from USB. Some will boot only from USB that looks like a ZIP drive, some only from a USB floppy.

I have only ever used one USB stick, but that was recognised by my portable's BIOS as a hard disk and booted flawlessly. So it is possbile to make it work, at least under the right circumstances.

Please tell us exactly what choices you made when you installed Puppy to the floppy.
