How are you installing it? Are you opening up a browser and going to
http://localhost:631 which is the cups web administration page.

yup i did, i even find the .ppd file of the printer.
after installing, i was trying to test it by printing the Test Page.
the job was stacked under the job list, it disappear after a while, but still nothing came out.
the status mentioned "Printer is now on-line".
what should i do next?

Are the lights blinking on the printer when you try to send it a test page? If not then it is not even sending a signal to your printer.

From a terminal what do you see when you type in lpq? Can you also print the output of
Code:
lpstat -s

Code:
# lpstat -s
system default destination: 3050
device for 3050: usb://Canon/LBP3010/LBP3018/LBP3050

Hope that helps.

I went to that site and they do have the linux drivers for the LBP 2900 in RPM, DEB, and source form!
I even went so far as to download them to make sure they existed.

Hmmm.... so if you are not seeing any activity like flashing lights on the printer then that means that a signal is not even making it to the printer. I would remove the printer from cups and unplug the usb cable from the system then re add the printer back.

8-bit,

thanks for the reply!
i retrieved both the drivers in .ppd file earlier, but i didn't remember from where exactly.
after installation, i tested it by printing the Test Page.
the job was stacked under the job list, it disappear after a while, but nothing came out.
the status mentioned "Printer is now on-line".
i am not sure what should i do next.

jstephens84,

i followed your instructions, deleted the printer from CUPS, plugged in the printer to install the printer again.
the same thing happened, nothing came out.
here is the description of the printer in CUPS:

Code:
3050 (Default Printer)
Description: 3050
Location: kirana
Printer Driver: Canon LBP3010/LBP3018/LBP3050 CAPT (UK)
Printer State: idle, accepting jobs, published.
Device URI: usb://Canon/LBP3010/LBP3018/LBP3050
did i miss anything?

Go to this website and download Canon's CAPT Driver for Linux Manual:

http://software.canon-europe.com/fil...t-1.3xE.tar.gz

Section 2 shows you how to install and uninstall the CAPT print driver.
Also, did you get the CAPT Driver from the same site?

Your printer is also discussed in the hardware section on this forum.
And evidently the owner got his working.
Not sure if Puppy though.

8-bit,

i don't remember from where i downloaded the .ppd files for the printers.
i asked in puppy's forum as well as googled it myself,
therefore it is difficult to keep track their origin locations.
i find it difficult to follow the instructions listed in the manual,
these are not particularly created for puppy, therefore some commands are not available.
