I need help installing GCC

I recently switched to puppy linux and its great but It doens't come with GCC preinstalled and I can't find a way to install it.

I am running a full HDD install.

I tried downloading the GCC package but I have to have a compiler to install a compiler. lol

I read that there was a dev package for puppy but I couldn't find any links to download it or instructions on how to use it.

Being a C++ programmer I just have to have GCC installed.

Here are the instructions with link to download site. Check the devx_xxx.sfs part. Hope this helps.

Hmmm... take a look at the bottom of this page. Instructions about installing devx on a full install. Make a backup of every precious file on your system before attempting anything.

I guess, this is still valid :
http://www.puppylinux.com/hard-puppy.htm
Please see the last chapter, "C/C++ compiling"
Quote:
Puppy has a very simple system for converting into a complete compiler
environment, in which you can run the usual "configure", "make" and
"make install" on a downloaded source package. At least, it's very
simple in the case of running Puppy from live-CD: see web page
Puppy on a CD.

Ok well I had to change the hda2 to sda1 because it recognizes my hard drive as sda1 but other then that it works! Thanks!!!

I will reboot my computer and I hope nothing fails.
