how to control the fan speed in Slacko Puppy

Hi

Can anyone give a simple command line example of how to turn the fan on/off or control its speed.

So far I seem only able to see its values in /proc/acpi/ibm/fan

I have also seen a few examples trying to set the value like

echo 0 > /proc/acpi/ibm/fan
or
echo 0 > /proc/acpi/ibm/fan/FAN0/sate

but I get "Invalid argument" an "Not A Directory" respectivly.

Can anyone help on this?

Thanks

EDIT:

For those who wanted to know how to do this, I think I have the answer.

1 ) Start Puppy
2 ) Start a terminal session
3 ) We need to remove the module currently loaed ( mine is thinkpad-acpi )
modprobe -r thinkpad-acpi
4 ) Then reload it with the fan_control argument
modprobe thinkpad-acpi fan_control=1

The fan can now be controlled.

I found "IBM FAN" which can display the current settings and allows you to change them from 0 ( fan off ) to "full-speed".

I hope this helps
