Are you trying to replace your Win2000 operating system or just install SeaMonkey as a web Browser?
If you are running Win2000, Boot it and then click on the CD.
If you are trying to replace Win2000, SeaMonkey 3.01 is not a replacement operating system.

Is there an overlooked floppydisk in that drive?
That would account for the A:\
Also, ignore my other post, If you burnt a new cd from the Puppy 3.01 iso file, you should have a cd that would show a number of files if you clicked on it in Windows 2000 explorer.
Is your BIOS set up in boot order to boot from cd first?

thanks 8-bit.
I just gave up yesterday to fight for another day. Truth is my brains got scrambled yesterday. Today up for it again.Extremely kind of you to look into my problem at those odd hours.
I was indeed trying to replace windows2000. This is a old system Athlon 1133MHZ with 256 RAM. This was a dual boot system on which I had once tried even XP. My little daughter got her hands on it. May be it was her or a Virus called nhathunlang or something sounding like that, most of the exe files were deleted by avast antivirus. Was not in use for around one year. Mean time I had a better laptop.

I recovered my important documents. But I do want use that system for my daughter. Windows are not an option cause the system is already slow. I wish to do a complete neat install of a faster linux based OS which can give a fast performance. I plan to use openoffice and mozzila later if it works. I believe antivirus is not required for linux.

I have given you whole background. Please suggest a line of action (which Linux based OS will be OK for me, I thought puppy would have been fine). Because of the virus or daughter action I have lost many features like taskmanager, administrative tools, certain other features which I come across as nasty surprises.

PS: Regarding that A:\ it is something beyond my comprehension as my cd rom is marked I:\. and my floppy disk drive is empty.

When you burnt the CD using Nero, did you select 'Burn Image to CD'?
Also, if the CD was burnt correctly, IN WINDOWS, open Windows Explorer, and click on the CD icon.
In the window that opens, you should see files of syslinux or isolinux.bin, initrd.gz, vmlinuz, and a Puppy file with an sfs extension etcetera.
If all you see is a file with an iso extension, it was burnt wrong.

Finally Finally managed Puppy, but seamonkey still bothers

Managed finally. Copied iso file on hard disk
Used Unetbootin downloaded from http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/[/URL]
worked like magic . up and running in less than 10 minutes flat.

Issue remains with browser seamonkey though. Trying to connect through my ADSL broadband (BSNL). Strange that In case I type IP address you go to the website. but not by typing URL. Any Solutions?

But Unetbootin is a wonderful utility though. Makes linux installation a piece of cake. works for other distros as well. As long as you have iso file.
