Gateway PROFILE III CX - Internet via USB adapter?

Gateway PROFILE III CX -

A neighbor purchased this Gateway system from another neighbor moving out of the area. It has Windows ME installed. Trying to locate a Linux system to work with the computer & its integrated Intel i810e video card as a Live CD has been a chore...
http://support.gateway.com/support/m...83/8508183.htm

I have Dingo 4.0 on CD, and running this version of Puppy as a live CD it has loaded a good video driver with some input from me saying yes... 1024x768 16bit, which is what the system runs in windows ME...

Instead of using the PCMCIA (PC Card slot) what USB adapter to cat5/router will work for Dingo 4.0 - & where can they be purchased? (amazon.com/Frys.com/newegg.com/tigerdirect.com?)

I still have this computer near by, without an internet connection because I can not locate a USB adapter to cat5 to get this system on-line...

I have purchased two differnet adapters locally, but no luck getting either of them working...
