External HD on Puppy
Hi there I have an external HD on puppy hoping to save-to, for extra space instead of the flash its running on.
However it states that this is read only. I want to write as well. This is what appears on the screen. The ntfs-3g driver was unable to mount the NTFS partition and returns this error message: Failed to write lock '/sdc1': Resource temporarily unavailable Error opening '/dev/sdc1': Resource Temp.unavailable Failed to mount '/dev/sdc1: Resource temporarily unavailable. So the inbuilt kernel NTFS driver has been used to mount the partition read only. Of course my HDD is the sdcl Please tell me what have I to do to make it read and write, as I want it to. Thanks, all. |
I use ext4 for writable usb partitions. Mention them in /etc/fstab with the'user' option and let a user own the top directories. Don't use kernel NTFS, use ntfs-3g which has write and is superior.

A windows system partition that was shutdown with fast boot enabled will cause this error. Will have to go into windows settings disable fastboot and then shutdown. the fastboot option is under control panel/power options/choose what the power button does/change settings that are currently unavailable.
