Dark vertical band on right side of old notebook 800x600 LCD display--Puppy only

Apparently no one at the Puppy Linux forum can figure this out. Here's the link to my forum post there:

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=45807

I've got Damn Small Linux frugal-installed on the notebook now, and have had no display problems with DSL, Knoppix, Debian, Window$ 98SE (oh noooo! ) or Window$ 2000 Pro (on a 40GB HD which crashed weeks after the HD warranty expired).

Anyone know why only Puppy gives me problems? TIA.

Try to use the xvesa driver instead of xorg, or vice versa

Are you running Puppy 421?
If so, go to Menu, Desktop, Wallpaper -Set Backdrop image.
There is one called PWigets_background.
Highlight it, click Clear and then reset your background image to your chosen one.
