Hi all,I am new to linux in any form, and I would be very grateful if any one can give me a run down on some useful common commands for lucid puppy 5.2.5. As looking around various links from google is like for ice cubes in antarctica [theres lots around but none of it is the shape you want].

http://linuxcommand.org/index.php should give first insights.
By the way, Puppy is a very special distro that does many things in special ways. I wouldn't recommend it for a new user that wants to learn Linux in general.

Several common commands in Puppy linux are customized by a shell script wrapper .

Puppy uses busybox applets a lot as replacements for full binaries .

I like busybox .

New you would probably miss some features like --long-options .

Look in the PATH for binaries/links named "*-BB-NOTUSED" or "*-FULL" .

As examples i have to mention /bin/df and /bin/mount /bin/umount scripts that are important to manage the drive icons on desktop .

That should make things easier.
